This Nikon Zoom Touch 470 is one of the 35mm film cameras I was referring to in my film camera introduction blog, that is no longer with us. I think I found this camera at a thrift store, for $8. What a good day at the thrift store finding this bad boy. Its last time working was during a cruise Oscar and I took with his family. Oscar and I were plopped at the bar, drinking some cute little fruity drinks, and it stopped working. No cause. The shutter just stopped.
The camera did wonders though, traveled to two countries with me and lasted me two years or so.
For overall quality for the Nikon Zoom Touch 470, I would give it an 8 out of 10. Most of my images came out looking amazing. I hit the jackpot finding this one. The focus, given that this is a 20th-century camera, was almost always in focus. I think if you want a beginner-friendly and easy-to-use point-and-shoot camera, you can not go wrong with this one. You’re able to control the flash (nothing too crazy, one when you want it go off), set a self-timer for selfies and low light images, and the most user-friendly feature noted is the auto-rewind. This means every time you’re finished shooting your roll of film, the camera rewinds the film back into the can. No need to press some buttons and spin it back yourself.
Fun fact, this picture of me is my last one with my Nikon 470. I’m still unsure what happened after my husband took this picture, but the shutter just stopped working.
