Film photography is such a vibe. I’ve been around in it for as long as I can remember. My journey with film started with my mom, who always had her film camera in her hands, taking photos of our family moments at home or out in the streets. Those memories, are now kept in scrapbooks and are little pieces of my history I can look back on and remember. So why do I shoot some of your wedding photography on film?
The joy of film lies in its nostalgia. It’s like stepping into a time machine, reliving moments in a more serene, slow, and intentional pace. That’s what draws me to film, both personally and professionally. It’s not just about “taking pictures”; it’s about creating a feeling of timelessness, a sense of being transported back to the peak of a moment. I’m able to take 1000s of photos with my digital camera, without really thinking about the photos, but not film. It’s 100% intentional. Nowadays, you’ll always find me with a small film camera. Keeping it in my bag or pocket, ready to capture something I want to look back on and relive.
For weddings, especially, film adds a unique touch. It elevates the experience, making it feel like a timeless story, your story, unfolding before our eyes. My goal is for couples to cherish not just the photographs but the emotions that come with seeing those photos—the calm, the beauty, the “razzle dazzle” of that day.
So, if you’re curious about the hype around film photography, it’s all about preserving the emotion and feeling of moments and creating lasting memories. Here are some of my wedding photography on film. How does it make you feel? How would you feel if these were your memories?
